Mr. Edwin Igbiti is a highly respected insurance executive and corporate strategist with an illustrious career spanning several decades in the financial services sector. He brings deep expertise in underwriting, risk management, and corporate governance to the Advisory Board of Edgeford Business School. Mr. Igbiti most recently served as the Managing Director of Niger Insurance Plc, where he was tasked with revitalizing and repositioning the company for growth and
profitability. Prior to this, he held the position of Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of AIICO Insurance Plc, overseeing the operations of AIICO and its subsidiaries—AIICO Pension, AIICO Capital, and AIICO Multishield. Under his
visionary leadership, AIICO experienced substantial organizational restructuring and expansion, contributing significantly to its industry standing.

Earlier in his tenure at AIICO Insurance Plc, Mr. Igbiti served as General Manager, Non-Life Underwriting, where he was responsible for the overall performance and strategic direction of the General Insurance Division. He also garnered extensive experience during his years at Phoenix Insurance Company and AIICO, holding various managerial and strategic roles that equipped him with a robust understanding of the industry landscape. His exceptional leadership has been
demonstrated through successful turnarounds, revenue growth, and operational excellence.

A consummate professional, Mr. Igbiti holds an MBA from the University of Ado-Ekiti and an Advanced Diploma in Management from the University of Lagos. He is a Certified Insurance Practitioner of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London (CIIL) and a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (FCIIN), the Risk Managers Society of Nigeria (FRIMSON), and the Risk Surveyors Association of Nigeria (FRISAN). He is also professionally affiliated with the Nigerian Institute of Management Chartered (NIMC) and is a certified Business Continuity Systems Lead Auditor from the British Institute, UK.

His global exposure includes executive education at Howard University Business School, USA. He is a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), a former member of the Nigeria Insurers’ Association (NIA), and currently serves on the Governing Council of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), where he is the Deputy  President.
